If you’ve ever wondered what it’s really like to manage a lifestyle blog, grow a business, and balance family life, I’m here to give you the inside scoop. Spoiler alert: it’s not all glamorous photos and perfect productivity. Behind the scenes, it’s a mix of chaos, creativity, and the occasional meltdown. But it’s also a lot of fun, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Today, I’m sharing how I keep everything moving forward despite the ups and downs.
To be totally transparent, I’m new to blogging and in the starter phase of my business. So, to make it a plan, I’m still working through a system that works for me and figuring things out as I go. From what I’ve observed so far, I can see how many may start this journey only to give up before the magic happens. It’s so easy to get caught up in the established creators and aspire to be them one day. However, when you begin, you realize how hard it is to stay motivated when no one sees your work—continuing to show up when you have so many other things going on in your life.
But despite the challenges, I’m pushing forward. And what I’ve learned is that success doesn’t happen overnight—it’s all about consistency, patience, and staying true to my vision, even on the days when it feels like no one’s paying attention. Let’s dive into how I manage everything in my life and business, even on those tough days when it feels like the world is demanding more than I can give.
The Reality of Time Management: How I Make It All Fit
“Time is money”—and if you’re juggling a blog, a business, and family life, that couldn’t be truer. But time management isn’t just about squeezing in more tasks—it’s about being intentional with how I use my time and what I choose to prioritize.
What I’ve found works best for me is having structure and an organized schedule. Instead of trying to do everything, I focus on what truly matters and make sure there’s space for the essentials: family, work, and, of course, time to recharge. It’s not always easy, but it’s a strategy that keeps me from burning out.
To stay on track, I use both a digital planner and a manual planner. Every Friday, I sit down to time-block the upcoming week. Since I’m still working my 9-to-5 job, I start by blocking out my working hours. Then, I map out the individual tasks I want to focus on, like working on my blog, exercising, and practicing coding. These are the goals I’m actively working toward, and I make sure to carve out specific time for them. I also create blocks for what I call “accessory and maintenance” tasks, like ironing my son’s school clothes, preparing dinner, or leaving flexible time for leisure activities. These might seem small, but they’re just as important in maintaining balance.
Pro Tip: Use time-blocking to divide your day into chunks dedicated to specific tasks. This method helps you stay focused and prevents you from constantly switching gears. When the end of your time block comes, stop the task—no matter what—and move on to the next one. It may feel like you’re leaving things unfinished, but extending one task into your next block only messes with your schedule. If time-blocking doesn’t suit your style, that’s okay! There are plenty of other methods you can experiment with. This method works for me, and it’s what allows me to stay productive and get more done.

The Reality of Balancing It All
Running a business, managing a blog, and juggling family life is no easy feat. There are days when nothing goes according to plan, and that can feel frustrating. Deadlines pile up, key tasks slip through the cracks, or life just throws an unexpected curveball—hello, sick kids or an emergency at work that eats into personal time!
But here’s the truth: it’s okay to struggle. The important part is how I respond to those challenges. Over time, I’ve learned that when things start feeling overwhelming, hitting pause and resetting is crucial. Whether it’s taking a quick 10-minute break for a deep breath or re-prioritizing my tasks for the day, I’ve gotten better at rolling with the punches and adapting when things don’t go as planned.
In the beginning, I had zero grace for myself. If life threw me off track, and I couldn’t get everything done as scheduled, I’d feel like the whole day was a failure. But as I found my rhythm, I realized that things happen, and my schedule didn’t have to be set in stone. I came up with a simple system that helped me stay grounded: my top three priorities. These are the three things I commit to working on every day, no matter what. The key word here is “work on,” not necessarily “complete.”
Pro Tip: Don’t be afraid to delegate tasks, even if it’s just temporarily. It’s okay to lean on others to keep things moving forward. Sometimes, we get more done when we work smarter, not harder.
Staying Productive Without Burning Out
If there’s one thing I’ve learned throughout my journey, it’s this: productivity isn’t about doing more—it’s about doing what truly matters without running myself into the ground. Yes, I love what I do, but if I’m not careful, the passion can quickly tip into burnout.
The problem, for me, is that it never really feels like the work is done. When I complete one task, it tends to lead to another, and then another. If I do manage to cross something off the list, there’s always something else waiting in the wings. It’s like the to-do list never ends, and I realized that’s a surefire way to burn out.
That’s why I had to set clear boundaries for myself. For example, I’ve established specific work hours to make sure my personal life doesn’t get swallowed whole by my business. While my business is important, so is my mental health and family time. These are non-negotiables. The same goes for my exercise time and study time. I know that if I don’t block out time for these activities, they’ll get lost in the shuffle.
Pro Tip: Give yourself permission to step away from work. You don’t have to be “on” 24/7 to be successful. In fact, taking breaks and respecting your boundaries can make you even more productive in the long run.

Self-Care Isn’t Selfish—It’s Essential
When you’re juggling a blog, a business, and family life, it’s easy to forget about yourself. But here’s the hard truth: self-care is not optional—it’s essential. I’ve learned the hard way that when I neglect myself, I start to lose my creativity, motivation, and energy. There were times when I’d feel overwhelmed, like everything was just “work”—and not the fun, exciting kind of work. I began to ask myself, “Why am I doing this? It’s hard, it’s draining, and I’ve got enough on my plate already.”
But what I realized was that I was missing something crucial: time for myself. Time to unwind, to do something without deadlines, and to just be. I had to carve out moments of relaxation and pampering to rejuvenate my mind and body. I started by treating myself to a mani-pedi or a trip to the salon. I also embraced quiet moments, like sinking into a bubble bath with soothing music, dim lights, and essential oils filling the air. Honestly, writing that made me crave a moment like that right now.
I quickly learned that if I don’t take care of myself, I’m no good to anyone else—whether it’s my family, my business, or my blog. Self-care isn’t just about the occasional treat; it’s also about integrating small, intentional acts into my daily routine that help me stay balanced. Whether it’s morning stretches, meditating for 10 minutes, or taking a quick walk to clear my head, these little habits recharge me and help me show up as my best self for everything and everyone that matters.
Pro Tip: Self-care doesn’t have to be complicated. Start with small daily habits that make you feel recharged and balanced, and build from there.
Celebrating the Wins—Big and Small
While it’s easy to focus on the challenges, I’ve learned that celebrating the wins is just as important. Whether it’s reading the final draft of a blog post, finishing a coding challenge, or simply taking a moment to step outside and breathe in some fresh air, I try to make it a point to recognize my progress.
Sometimes, the victories aren’t huge milestones—they’re the small moments that help me keep going. Like getting through a hectic week without losing my cool or ticking off a few tasks on my to-do list. Those moments matter just as much as the bigger accomplishments.
Pro Tip: Celebrate your wins, no matter how small they may seem. Every step forward, no matter the size, is still progress.
The Takeaway: It’s a Journey, Not a Destination
Running a lifestyle blog and business while managing family life is a constant balancing act. Some days, I get it all right; other days, things fall apart. But that’s all part of the journey, and I’m learning to embrace the chaos and the unexpected twists. I’ve come to realize that there’s no such thing as perfect balance; it’s about making choices, setting boundaries, and being flexible enough to adjust when life throws curveballs.
What I’ve learned is that it’s not about having it all figured out. Life is messy, yes, but it’s also full of growth and new opportunities. And if I can juggle all of it while keeping my sanity intact, so can you.
